The Middle Eastern War Blog

Nuclear weapons are a major threat in this war. A threat that can lead to a mass destruction. Nuclear Weapons are becoming bigger and better with modern technology.
The Middle Eastern War

Causes
The main cause of the war in the Middle East is conflict over oil. Before oil was discovered, this region was the center for religious conflict and wars over resources and land. To maintain authority over the region, the West had placed Arab leaders in extremely powerful positions. The leading cause through it all though as been the struggle to control access to important resources (oil). The Middle East is the most militarized region in the world. Many people think the United States is a major influence in the growing Islamic military and acts of terrorism. The United States felt bad for Afghanistan, so they went on their side to help them.

Many protests erupted through the Middle East. Reasons for these protests
would vary from financial crisises, cost of living, and the high unemployment
rate. Some protests ended up extremely violent and dangerous.

U.S. Involvement
Taliban’s were Islamic fundamentalists, they were allowed to operate training camps for terrorists. President Bush believed that any government that sponsored terrorism, even if it did not itself commit terrorist acts, should be held accountable. Bush demanded that the Taliban turn over bin Laden to United States custody and shut down the terrorist training camps. When Afghanistan refused, Bush sent troops, joined by Great Britain and other allies to strike terrorist and Taliban military communication bases. Joined by Afghani rebels, the allied forces overthrew the Taliban within 3 months.
Oil is a prominent resource throughout the Middle East. The United States
and other nations take complete advantage of the Middle East for this
resource.
This was the cover of the 1973 TIME Magazine Middle Eastern War edition.
Everyone wanted to know what was going on in the Middle East.
Articles and news broadcastings gave people the inside view.

Setting
This Syrian girl is an example of the many
of terrified civilians that die everyday. No one is
friendly in this war.
The United States is striving to build them up an army to be independent. Their independence will save us troops, money, and countless time spent helping them.
Soldiers fighting in combat risked their lives each and everyday to serve their country. The US soldiers are incredibly strong throughout the entire battle in the Middle East. Although it is as if the war will never end, they strive to keep a positive attitude and remain patient.
An enemy is an enemy. Those serving in the Middle East do their best to stay away from the civilians.
Religion is a huge cause of conflict in the Middle East. Most of their wars start because of oil and clashing religions. We are currently in the Middle East to try to resolve these issues peacefully.
Terrorist attacks are the prime reason we got involved with the war in the Middle Eastern countries. One person can change the world in an instant with the attacks they are capable of starting.
Around the 1990’s the Palestinians and Israelis conducted secret negotiations in Oslo, Norway. They came to an agreement which promised Palestinian self-rule in Jericho and the Gaza Strip, as well as security for the Israelis. What the declaration did not address, lead to become a major issue leading to chronic violence eventually assassinating the prime minister of Israel, resulting in the separation of Israel and Palestine.
War In The Middle East
The United States army is helping the Israeli army flourish so that they can fight their battles themselves without our aid. Once we get them strong enough we will be done there. We will keep them as an ally.

Homefront
The United States supported Iran’s Shah to have an ally against communism. Resentment over political interference and foreign involvement in Iran’s oil industry boiled over when the deposed Shah entered the United States for medical treatment. Iranians took the 66 American hostages and held 52 of them for 444 days. The United States helped Israel form a democracy. We gave them the needed supplies and money to succeed.

End
When you are trying to find a solution to end a war, peace will come when both sides are able to sacrifice and compromise. The difficult part of this is how to get both sides of the conflict to agree when they already think they have done so. To end war, peace must be made as the top goal. Peace in the Middle East will be difficult considering the centuries of issues they have had with one another. Learning how to live with the enemy will be the goal of the conflicting sides of the Middle East, and without these compromises, there will never be peace.
Quotes
1. I started out with my first question asking the veteran how the Afghani citizens treated him, and he said: "I did not like them and they did not like me. I tried not to deal with them." He seemed very short about this question and I imagine his feelings were this way because of everything that has happened between the US and the Afghani's.
2. I then went on to ask him about what his thoughts were about 911: "I was very upset. Everyone wanted to enroll in the army right then and there to go get revenge on the Middle East." He said that he was planning on joining the service anyway so that he could get his college education easier.
3. His confidence in the Afghani army was not very surprising to me: "I have absolutely no confidence in them. They have no history in battles like we do." He did not think they would be able to come out of this war with any strength left.
